Description
This old and creepy Chimp was once the most beloved toy of John. He once had a plastic banana, and full hands, thumbs included. Now he lives his days out in the garage.
Mr. Bim marks the name of a vintage toy for children. Total production consists of three sizes of Mr. Bim. The most common Mr. Bim measures 15 inches in length. The stuffed monkey marks one of a popular line of toys sold throughout the 1950's and early 1960's by Columbia toy company. Other popular collector toys constituting the Mr. Bim line include a plush poodle as well as a Mr. Bim hand
puppet. Although most consider Mr. Bim a toy monkey, his appearance more closely resembles that of a chimpanzee. Individuals may confuse the Mr. Bim toy with other popular stuffed monkey toys of the time. Mr. Zippy marks another stuffed monkey toy similar in appearance to Mr. Bim. The production of Mr. Zippy stems from a monkey character on the Howdy-Doody show - a popular show of the time. However, all Zippy monkey toys carry markings of Zip or Zippy on the outer vest of the toy. Zippy differs from Mr. Bim in several noticeable ways. Mr. Bim production toys always carry a banana in the right hand of the toy. Mr. Zippy monkey toy productions lack this banana. In addition, both of these monkey toys carry yellow vests tied by red suspenders. However, the Mr. Bim red suspenders carry a much less noticeable red tie than Mr. Zippy. Mr. Bim holds many features unique for 1950's toys. Mr. Bim original toys feature half-closed eyes. In addition, Mr. Bim features vinyl constructed face, banana and shoes. The toy holds other unique features which mark Mr. Bim as a highly interactive toy for the time period. Mr. Bim the toy monkey may hang off of solid furniture or shelves. The left of Mr. Bim remains free of obstruction. The free hand of the toy allows for special positioning to grasp and hang off of such flat surfaces.
