This Douglas Squirrel has been in around here in the woods for years. I'm not sure if she is pregnant or just fat! Her face makes me laugh! These are native "small" squirrels here in the Northwest. I know you can't tell by looking at this picture!
She is pregnant here! Since being on FAA, I have read and learned more about these little fellers than I knew in all the years of looking at them, and laughing at them... or is that with them?
Douglas's Squirrels are small, energetic, and very active during the day all year long. They spend many hours collecting and storing green pine cones to eat during the harsh winters. Each squirrel builds several nests, including an underground nest for winter use. They usually breed from March to June, and sometimes again in late summer or early fall, and other than that, are solitary. Females have eight teats, and litters of eight have been recorded, but litters of 4-6 are more usual.

Capturing a moment in time, is one of the best emotions. I love seeing something thru the lens and holding it near you as long as you can. I like for that image to be caught by surprise. A pure emotion. That to me is usually the most interesting. Anyways.... Photography is my medium. I do enjoy photographing those "Funny Animals" I see along the way........Laughter gets you thru a lot of hard times...I appreciate you taking the time to see what I see..... As you might have noticed I have never written a biography about myself for over 2 years. I figured I had better write one now. I'm definitely not going to write my "BIO" in the third person, so that I sound more important than I really am. Should I warn you that I have "run on"...

Phyllis, I thought he was eating too much too! But, found out later, HE is a SHE and SHE is pregnant! I took a video of her tearing apart my outdoor tablecloth. She ripped all the cotton backing off the tablecloth. As I watched this, many of hours of footage and recordings, I watched her take the cootn, gball it up and make it into a nest for her little babies... She is and was a hard working mother! I need to change the description of the poor Mama squirrel... and say hse is pregnant... it's not nice to make fun of "Mother Nature" ...hehe... Hope your Saturday is a nice one Phyllis!
